Rodolfo Stavenhagen (29 August 1932 – 5 November 2016) was a Mexican anthropologist and sociologist. He was professor emeritus at El Colegio de México, one of Mexico’s foremost social science institutions.

Among his principal publications are: Social Classes in Agrarian Societies (1975), Derechos humanos y derecho indígena en América Latina (1989), The Ethnic Question: Development, Conflicts and Human Rights (1990), Ethnic Conflicts and the Nation-State (1995), and Los pueblos indígens y sus derechos (2008).

Homenaje a Rodolfo Stavenhagen

Hoy asistí al Centro Cultural Jardín Borda al homenaje que se le da al antropólogo y sociólogo Rodolfo Stavenhagen, por el trabajo que por 36 años ha hecho a favor de las culturas populares de ‪México‬ y ‎Morelos‬. Parte de la visión que tenemos como gobierno, es trabajar por la cultura popular, lo que nos permite unir y fortalecer a las y los mexicanos. En materia de preservación y promoción de las culturales populares de Morelos, el gobierno del estado otorgó becas a noventa jóvenes de comunidades para continuar sus estudios, sin dejar de practicar el náhuatl, cantidad que se ampliará gradualmente a fin de fortalecer la identidad el patrimonio intangible de los pueblos indígenas morelenses. Como parte del homenaje, se realizarán cuatro foros durante esta semana, en el Centro Cultural Jardín Borda, en Coyoacán, Distrito Federal y en la ciudad de Tijuana, con materias como “Culturas populares: desigualdad y revitalización”, “Los escenarios cambiantes del arte popular”, “Procesos de urbanización, cultura de jóvenes e identidad en la frontera” y “Cultura y políticas públicas en el contexto del siglo XXI”.
