With preface essays by Amb. Jonathan Dean (USA), the Hon. Kamel S. Abu Jaber (Jordan),
Sir Crispin Tickell (UK) and Prof. El Sayed Yassin (Egypt)

The book aid project was made possible by grants and subsidies by:

  • Berghof Foundation for Conflict Research, Germany (120 books)

  • Public Diplomacy Division of NATO (117 books)

  • Sparkasse Neckartal-Odenwald, Mosbach, Germany (11 books)

  • Peter Dornier Foundation, Friedrichshafen, Germany (5 books)

  • Dr. H. G. Brauch, AFES-PRESS, Mosbach, Germany (19 books)

  • Dr. G. Hoogensen, University Tromsoe, Norway (1 book)

  • Mr. D. Hartmann, Berlin, Germany (1 book)

The books were only sent to libraries and not to individuals to guarantee a maximum access to readers around the world especially in countries that could hardly afford such a major reference book. All resources have been exhausted, new donations are welcome. Books will be sent only to publicly accessible libraries and not to individual scholars and dignities.

Excerpt from a letter of

Amre Moussa, Secretary General,
League of Arab States, 17 July 2003

"this volume comes at an opportune time, and should
therefore be disseminated effectively to universities
throughout the region. It is my sincere conviction that the book will
emerge as a valuable resource for both scholars and students aiming
to better understand the factors affecting contemporary regional
security in the Euro-Mediterranean region".
